opportunity lost

Opportunity knocked, my ship had docked
and on that dock I stopped in shock unable to understand.
Hopes and fears quick to appear
appearing before I began
I hesitated and I waited
before stepping on the boarding span
In time I found my fear unfounded
but I hadn't stopped that stopping up my plans
Now opportunity lost too my hesitancy
because for opportunity I never planned.
