Civil War

Every time I enter - into the house of God
I see faces falling from - your peaceful facade
You're preaching from the pulpit - "the heretics tell lies"
You just condemned your brother - but you don't tell me why

You fight - all the time,
You fight - all the time,
You fight - all the time,
And I - don't know why.

Don't you know, we're one? - One people.
One church - one body of believers.
So why this civil war?
Don't even up the score!
What is this fighting for?
We're made for so much more!

Every time I enter - a church I've never been
I silently determine - that they're living in sin
Everything they're doing - meets my judgmental eye
But if you were to ask me - I couldn't tell you why

I fight - all the time,
I fight - all the time,
I fight - all the time,
And I - don't know why.

  1. I think I fight because I want right. (knowledge, proof, justice, freedom)
    Mercy bewilders.
