"Can you believe how many hypocrites their are in the world, I'm glad I'm not that way."

My tomb will be the changes I have made in this world, my grave marked by the lives I have changed, my obituary the words of those who survive me. And when I am gone, the world will not stop, it will go on as if nothing changed. I will be a memory, and I hope I will be not a fond memory, but a life changing one.

Live for yourself and everything you lived for will disappear when you do. Live for others and you will survive because those you loved will live for others and others until your choice to live for something greater than yourself will become a choice for humanity to love.

We are the problem. "We must be the change we wish to see in the world." If we want a better world, we must first start with our own hearts, our own lives. In a way, to condemn any is to be a hypocrite, but to commiserate with others, acknowledging that you share their illness, two broken humans, incomplete, coming together hoping that by coming together they will create something greater than the sum of their parts. This is not hypocritical, this is the sick ministering to the sick, not thinking themselves a doctor, not thinking their touch a healing one, but hoping that they can make another life better by sharing the pain.

  1. The truth hath been spoken. You've been reading the book I gave you, haven't you? This seems especially timely what with the milestone I'm approaching in roughly 24 hours. Good things to think about as I graduate from high school and go out into the world.
